Hope young man is okay, and that others riding scooters/bikes hear about this and become more cautious themselves.
Kittle and peppermintstick reacted #msg5978920It was just a matter of time before this happened, the way the kids are riding around.
#msg5978914Councilman Fred post re HEB parking lot incident. Lifted from Facebook. Council Member Fred Flickinger 1͏h͏ Earlier today, a teenager riding a scooter was involved in a collision with a vehicle in the H-E-B parking lot on Kingwood Drive. Houston Fire Department and Houston Police Department responded quickly, and we're thankful to report that the young rider's injuries appear to be minor, consisting primarily of road rash. He was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution for further evaluation. This serves as an important reminder for all of us. Parking lots can be just as dangerous as busy roadways. Whether you're riding a scooter, bicycle, skateboard, or walking, please stay alert, make eye contact with drivers whenever possible, and avoid darting between parked vehicles. Likewise, drivers should slow down, minimize distractions, and be especially watchful for children and teens who may be difficult to see. We're grateful this incident was not more serious and wish the young man a speedy recovery. Let's all do our part to keep one another safe.
And just think y'all.......the kids go back to school soon! I sooooo wish schools would prohibit them. Just imagine morning rush hour! Then....when it is dark at the time, even worse. Thankful that the injuries were minor....this time.
#msg5979090just seeing this. i started sounding this alarm a year ago. I literally twitch when driving now. As a community we are beginning to sound an alarm in unison. Littles on high powered scooters have zero business sharing the roadways with 4 ton chunks of steel. To be sure they are fun as hell but there are parents right now wishing they'd just said NO.
#msg5979285Ruger5 : I have seen something very familiar, children not over 12 for sure most likely 9 or 10 riding a 4wheeler right here in my neighborhood going pretty fast also and give me a look like you sorry stupid old lady, I can do this if I want to. I always wish a sheriff would be cruising the streets when this happens but sadly no law enforcement in sight.
#msg5979262First we all complain kids aren't outside playing. Then we complained that kids are being coddled and aren't learning lessons the hard way. Now we're complaining kids are outside and we're not coddling them enough.
#msg5979392It definitely starts with the parents. I watch golf carts etc. drive down the greenbelt after dusk nightly. Then here come the Sunday morning spandex bike riders. If we don't follow the rules they will eventually be enforced.
#msg5979455cardinalsong : Let's be fair. The way ADULTS drive in the HEB parking is the liability. Not necessarily the teens.
#msg5979494Zz98721 : It is plainly marked "No motorized vehicles" on the greenbelt. I once reminded some young kids of this and the reply to me was "It is not a motor, it is a battery"! It DOES start ( or not) with the parents.
#msg5979499it was clearly stated in this periods hoa explanation of funds for sand creek/greentree. I guess some parents can't read?

#msg5979506whereami : why am I not surprised that certain peeps on here are all for letting little children ride around on high-powered motor scooters mingled in with 4 ton chunks of steel? This blows my mind, well not really. good grief. children are outside playing, but wherever they play, they should be safe. Good Lord Almighty did you really just say that out loud?
#msg5979503Luv2eatsushi : every kingwood resident
Sandcreek and Greentree hoa isnt all of Kingwood. Kindly elaborate.
