Skirlie (Scottish)
Recipe
Skirlie (Scottish)
FoFa says:
"I fell in love with this side dish the very first time I had it. It can replace any starchy side dish, but goes good with beef, lamb and such. Basically the oat meal absorbs the fat, and turns into this wonderful thing you could not even tell was oatmeal.
"
2 cups medium oatmeal
2 cups onions, finely chopped
salt
4 oz. grated suet or
4 tbs. good dripping or
shorting works, just not as good taste wise.
