Presumably, these companies know the apartment market pretty well, and would only make the investment if they think there is demand and the apartments will fill up...and Houston famously has close to zero zoning laws, so if the company buys the land, they can pretty much do with it whatever they see fit...
I have no problem with new housing. Everybody needs a good roof over their head. I have a problem with clear cutting, and I have a problem with the lack of infill development closer into downtown.

I still don't see why large swaths of our town need to be cut down to accommodate "because they can."

#msg6035267gmankw : I think you're just asking the wrong question...there are no zoning laws...whoever owns the property, can do whatever they want with it that is best for them. If what's best for them is building apartments that will have high demand...they will do it... Asking "I don't know why they have to do this super profitable thing with the land they own..." doesn't seem like the right question.

I mean...you could fight for zoning I guess. Or laws (not sure what law would apply here). Asking, why people don't use property they own, in perfectly legal ways, that are profitable...doesn't seem productive.
I believe that's exactly what that will be. Father T. J. announced it on the St. Martha fb page a few weeks ago.
#msg6035072Ronstang : "cliff dwellers" - are you referring to apartment residents?? Crap, man, that's pretty ugly, if so. About 15% of the people in Kingwood live in apartments, about 12,000 of them...these are our neighbors, too...I lived in apartments for about 15 years of my life...
