I just hope they haven't conned their way into another stop light on north park. The last thing we need is a double red just so the developer can sell "easy access"

More cliff dwellers are not needed in this area. There are too many already. The complexes left in KW are by far the worst places around.

#msg6034741bigla : It looks like more apartments "The massive clearing you are seeing specifically along Woodridge Parkway is directly tied to the construction of a large residential community called Haven at Kingwood. Haven at Kingwood Residential Project A significant tract of land on Woodridge Parkway (centered near Chanay Lane, just north of the St. Martha campus) is being cleared for a 208-unit multi-story residential renting complex. • The Scope: The project features several multi-family residential buildings, a central leasing office, a 6,000-square-foot community clubhouse, and dedicated mail/amenity centers. • Timeline: The heavy site preparation and clear-cutting started to make room for infrastructure layout, with overall project completion projected through December 2027. Coordinated Utility Expansion Because a high-density development like Haven at Kingwood requires major upgrades to local infrastructure, the clearing along the edge of Woodridge Parkway also accommodates right-of-way utility expansions. The clearing ensures that new power, water, and broadband lines can be safely extended down the parkway to feed the new complex without interfering with the existing tree canopy."

PlaneCrazy : Great just what we don't need. Especially this close to Kingwood proper.

Max57 : That's on the same side as the church. The tree murders are happening on the right side before the one story apartments.

bigla :
I agree. With a complex that big they are going to impact Northpark. I don't know if it's going to cancel out the expansion but it definitely won't help.
I wonder how this stuff gets approved. You would think there is a process other than a briefcase full of money.

Thanks for the tips.

Ronstang : "cliff dwellers" - are you referring to apartment residents?? Crap, man, that's pretty ugly, if so. About 15% of the people in Kingwood live in apartments, about 12,000 of them...these are our neighbors, too...I lived in apartments for about 15 years of my life...

oldarn : Or another one this close to a school. There are apartments all over the place already. Even down by the water going out of Kingwood it's all apartments and homes for rent via different PE firms. If anyone's considering home ownership out here, I hope they're thinking sooner rather than later. They're running out of room to build and everything that's being built seems to be communal.

gmankw :
I think apartment construction has gone way up since Covid all over the place...with the high price of homes, and incomes not keeping pace with inflation, it seems for many that has become the only decent, financially viable option.

Joe : Not just apartment construction, but interstate migration. The median rent for a 2-bedroom in San Francisco is around $6,000/month. I understand that people need to live somewhere. But I don't see why they need to demolish our greenery (which also displaces wildlife) to build more places for people to live right here specifically. Houston is the fourth largest city in the country. There are plenty of other places to build that are not only more sensible in terms of location but in terms of cost/budget for those that run a tighter budget. If they're concerned about high fuel costs, then Houston is already going to eat more into their budget. KW is just further away from the metro area where most people likely work.
