#msg6021820Ray : So when does it arrive? My thermostat is upstairs too and keep it at 78. House is only 2200 sq feet but, pool pump has to run 8-10 hours per day and that runs up the bill. My last 2 bills were $418.
What's your kw usage?

#msg6022111TEXASGIRLMAMMA : The home I have was built by my grandfather around 1936. (So it's 90 yrs old) Each room has a combo AC/Heat window unit. Some rooms used to use those floor heaters with the grates (very painful to step on when in use!!) The bathrooms have gas wall heaters. The last time I had to replace a window unit was around 2021 & was pricey! ($1400 for AC/heat) - photo: example of old floor heaters
I fell on one of those floor heater grates when I was a little kid. I still have the scar on my wrist from it, super hot. That was around 1954.
#msg6022267lizzycav : Ouch! That would hurt to step on. What brand of AC/heat did you get? I bought a GE for the farm last year and it was about $600 and from Lowes.

#msg6022161Cbear : That seems awfully high. I have a two story with the thermostat upstairs too set at 77. Crank it down to 75 at night. No pool here but my bill is $150 this month at 820 kWh. What's your kw usage?

I hear you!it really doesnt help that overall you cant get ahead bc the rates just keep escalating EVEN if you use less power.

#msg6022359TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Mine was a GE too! But I had to purchase from a local furniture store because they do installations & will take away the old unit. (I think $200 of that price was to cover those services). It's a small town… so they get away with charging more cause other options are very limited.

When i moved into my house 10 years ago, my highest bill was $70 in peak scorching heat, and i used more electricity then. Now, after using a bit less electricity, my bill at peak has doubled $150. The consumer cannot get ahead. TX is no longer a reasonable place utility wise to live. Water rates also never stop rising.
