#msg5918209StormChaser : Do you mean protected as in physically protected? That is a very scary thought.

Donnawisdom : Correct.

Oh I'm really sorry to hear that. If you all do any teaching yourselves there's a home school store over near Willowbrook Mall that has a variety of curriculum.

StormChaser : If you are looking for more of a structured option, try Connections Academy. They are a free homeschool program through the state. We looked at signing our youngest up when she was having some health issues and they were super helpful. Luckily she got better and went back to KHS but I was relieved having this as a backup.

#msg5918206Homeschooling Does anyone here have kids that homeschool in KW/Humble ISD? I think we have a few regulars that do but I'm blanking on names. We have 2 years left and we're completely over it. It's a very long story. Bottom line is - I don't feel like my child is being protected. 😒 With that said, we are looking to join a Co-Op in Kingwood & I'm looking for areas to start that research. I've joined a few groups on social media but I figured I'd ask here as well. If you can point me in any direction, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

StormChaser : You will have to fill out paperwork to withdraw her from public school even if you finish this year and do not go back in the fall. If you are planning on using the K12 program through Humble ISD remember you have to teach what they want you to teach. I personally would not go that route but I Homeschooled from the beginning. HEART is the biggest Homeschool group in Kingwood. If you join HEART they have information on all the other groups. Home Run Ministries holds classes 2 times a week at Kingwood Bible Church. The teachers are excellent! She will not miss out on anything~~~ Prom, Graduation, or just about any normal highschool activity there is. Mine graduated through HEART.

#msg5918264You can always reach out to your school counselor for homeschooling information

lynnsgirl : The school counselor will most likely discourage homeschooling.

I'm sorry your daughter is having issues at school. You are a good mom to jump in and consider alternatives.

I am glad you asked the question because I may want to investigate this subject in case we need to make any changes. I'm bookmarking this page.

No suggestions here however I applaud you for committing to homeschooling. You know your daughter and the situation so go with your heart. Pursue peace and you won't go wrong. Praying for you and your family.

lynnsgirl : I really don't think the Humble ISD is in the business of giving out information on Homeschooling except to say, Don't do it! The only other info I see them giving out is how to sign up for the K12 program which is very controlling and the parent has to teach what they want taught on the ISD schedule. To me, that is not really homeschooling. The ISD is not making school safe for the child. Why would they want to help now? I personally would not talk to them about it. I would withdraw my child and never look back. Our area has huge homeschool groups. It really is the best way to go. The people in these groups are very welcoming to new comers and helpful.

peppermintstick : Congrats of that huge accomplishment!

I would go there and find used books for a fraction of the cost of new and they looked like new! It was so much fun to poke around and find interesting stuff.
