First off all, I want to know how old you are and if you have children, because you are so flip about this. I live in Sandcreek and kids are darting in and out of no where all of the time. There is so much traffic and these children don't have the capacity to drive vehicles on busy streets. Look at the accidents mentioned on this thread already. I am a very defensive driver but if a small scooter or e-bike darts in front of me, I may not have time to stop. I hate to be put in this position because there is not a law against this! Wake up!
Witnessed this just yesterday. 2 girls about mid school age riding scooters. They were coming out of a side street crossing a main street. Talking to each other didn't look either way and crossed the main street as if it didn't exist. I don't think they were even aware they crossed a roadway. Thankfully I was driving slow enough that I could brake and avoid running them over.
MissAmericanPie reacted It affects anyone who drives a vehicle...as if its not bad enough that you have vehicles that clearly aren't fit to be on the road and un insured drivers, the "fast n furious " drivers- oh and road works to contend with....
I feel like my comments will be a part of a minority viewpoint, but here goes. The kids in Kingwood are such lucky young ones. They have most anything they could ever want, but there is one BG item missing. They ARE NOT entitled to do anything they want just because they are kids!!! I see so many comments of "kids will be kids," "they are just kids," and the list goes on. There are rules of life that we all need to follow, and so many of the kids today are not being taught those rules. I hope I am not the unfortunate driver who hits one of the kids on their e-bikes or scooters, but if I do, it damn well won't be my fault. I am an 88 year old driver and I follow the rules of the road. I can still drive 85 mph with the best of them, but the streets of Kingwood are not the place for that. I recently saw a young girl driving a golf cart with two maybe 4 or 5 littles ones, with their legs dangling off the back, laughing and having fun as she swerved down the middle of Forest Garden. I pulled up beside her, rolled down my window and nicely told her that if she kept that up someone was going to be hurt. Her comment, "I don't care, it's fun." I think this type of attitude is the way so many young people of today think. I'm sorry, but rules and laws are for everyone, young and old alike. Parents please wake up and teach your children that actions have consequences and sometimes they are not pleasant ones.

#msg5920665billcherie2 : Why isn't HPD pulling these kids over? I haven't seen one cop light up any of these kids riding down the middle of the street. Granted they probably don't want to get schooled by an 8 year old in a chase but a few Come to Jesus meetings with these kids and maybe some parents would keep this activity in check.
Not a police problem.
#msg5920657StinksMcNulty : oh I would love to give you a break hee hee. Still trying to wrap my head around you not thinking these things aren't dangerous.. you may have haul assed on your bicycle, but I guarantee weren't doing it in the middle of Kingwood Dr., Sandwiched between other vehicles . you actually think it's OK for third graders to be sharing Kingwood Drive with multiple ton chunks of steel. Smdh
#msg5921086StinksMcNulty : No, they should NOT be riding on the main arteries. I can't believe that you are arguing in favor of that. They will get killed if they come into contact with a car. Yes, in the neighborhoods we should be more careful, but no way should they be riding on the main arteries.

#msg5921255Ruger5 : That all you got? I love Sylvester, btw.
#msg5921250Ruger5 : Not KW Drive, think 43rd & Antoine. I'm a NW side kid. And yeah, between and around traffic. E-bikes are no more dangerous than that. Just be mindful. The kids won't. Isn't that what we're supposed to do? Watch out for others? I think so.
#msg5921276StinksMcNulty : actually I think it's first and foremost up to the parents to not allow their children to drive to school, that would make it easier on all parents. Johnny and Susy are not following your road. Safety rules, I hope parents are paying attention and it seems like they probably are starting to.
