Wiseowl : this is so true. plus, none of us, including the OP, know where they are in the investigation, so we cannot say they are Not trying/ working the case. Cases will triage by severity, but detectives work on Many cases at once, so it may be some time, before information is forthcoming.
MissAmericanPie : The thieves are professionals. It doesn't matter how many locks are changed, cameras in place & then stolen. It's very involved. The thieves target individuals & they keep track of your activities, when you leave, etc. People in the neighborhood are suspect. Support is needed rather than skepticism. This crime will only get worse if not met with serious attention and intervention.

The police will take a report for your insurance claim, but they typically do not further investigate unless you have cameras that caught a plate number or a face. Sadly, there is crime everywhere and just not enough police to fully investigate a home break in. It's not Kingwood's fault. It was annexed by the city of Houston and that, for the most part, is who patrols. Hopefully, your insurance will do their best to replace the items stolen.
donnatella : It seems the police really don't do anything if it is not going to give them enough recognition. They think the small stuss doesn't matter. It won't get them a promotion!
Theft The $25 Starbucks card that I won was stolen from my home along with jewelry, small new appliances, novelties, vintage clothes, new shoes, computer, etc, valued around $5K. I wonder if the Starbucks card had a number to trace. For the lady who compared previous thefts to that of fake William, I met a builder in Kingwood who had thousands $$$$ stolen, too & the police do NOTHING about it. If I would caution anyone who is moving to Kingwood. I would tell them to be prepared not to depend on the police but to be able to handle things on their own. Annexation in 96 was a terrible mistake!

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Respectfully, I disagree with that. It's a matter of volume vs. available deputies and investigators. They can't be everywhere, also can't trace and pursue every item stolen. As much as we would want a CSI-type investigation for every break-in, that's where TV vs. reality differ.
Crime in Kingwood had definitely increased.
EasyPeasy : Didn't someone post the stats the other week to show it is actually decreasing? Everywhere not just Kingwood too.

donnatella : From our experience with a stolen truck, I have to disagree with you. The truck was recovered only because it has LoJack on it. Parts/personal items were missing. Hubby ran across those parts/personal items for sell on FB in Montgomery County. The person who had them was buddies with the guy who is now spending 20 years in prison. (It is amazing what a little research can dig up about people on FB and online.) They would not go after the guys selling the parts/personal items. I guess we should have bought them back. Wonder if we would have been in trouble for buying stolen items?
Annie : It's a matter of police presence vs residents and criminals. They simply don't have the manpower to intensely investigate like we see on TV. Most people understand that and don't bash the police when crime happens.
