Sorry for your situation. Hopefully your insurance can help. What part of Kingwood do you live in? Have there been other burglaries in the area?It's been a few years, but we had a break in and the police came quickly (called by my alarm company). We were out of town so our gate was padlocked. The burglar broke a plate glass window at the back. The policeman had to climb over our wooden fence, and he went in the broken window and searched the house and even went in the attic since he said burglars have been known to hide there. He and his partner took fingerprints off the big piece of glass but said it was likely kids so they would not be in the system. The burglar ran when the alarm went off so they didn't take anything. I thought the police were responsive and helpful. There are some good police stories. I took them a chick fil a gift card to buy lunch for the Kingwood station for their help. The local officers responded when I called about my grandson's dad refusing to return him per custody agreement. They were fast getting here and helped us through the process. Another time, a teen was selling drugs from a small clearing in the trees behind the elementary school. It was pretty obvious with the buyers going in the trees for a few minutes and coming out quickly. I drew a map and took it to the police station. Problem solved. I've seen them respond quickly to domestic abuse case in the neighborhood. I hope you will recover or replace things that were stolen. The police are stretched but they are still helping in our community.

You say they are professionals but suspect neighbors? How come?

As for the gift card, you would have to write down the gift card number and scratch off to get the pin number and get the customer service number or online address to track.

UptownGirl : Because the owner will know their items often with first glance. If I told the police I were missing an xyz ring, they might find so many similar variables. I would know mine.

checking local pawn shops is a good idea; the shops have cameras, so if you Do find an item of your there,they have cameras, and LEO can access those, plus get a copy of the pawn slip and more. I am hoping the op with install security, if they did not have it, before.

donnatella : Completely agree. I wish the dedication that one sees in the TV shows of our past were true. Heck, even ScoobyDoo solved cases. When I've truly had a need, the police were beyond kind and compassionate towards me and my family.
