they do, but especially on the last day of school, many parents like to pick the kids up themselves. I did, when mine were young. We would go to lunch, their friends would come over to swim, maybe spend the night and make pizzas. Always a lot of fun and good memories.
I have 2 nephews. They live in the country and 40 yr old now. But on the last day, one rode a horse and the other drove a John Deere tractor. No lines. Old school. LOL
#msg5931813On the last day of school police tell all KHS parents that the pickup line on valley manor is closed. Now we all have to go on kingwood drive. What worked all year doesn't work on last day of school, huh?
I hear ya; that's a great way to grow up. I was FFA sweetheart in 1974
Can I ask a sincere question? What happened to all the BUSES? Don't we residents pay for school taxes and budgets for buses that would alleviate this traffic problem?
Sheesh, I may be a cantankerous GenXer but kids getting chauffered to school all the time?
Apparently there are over 300 buses running in the school district, but I havent been able to see exactly how many of those serve Kingwood. I know that I chose my work schedule around my kid's school hours, so I could take them to school. Not everyone can do that ,so there must still be quite a few buses running?
Respectfully, my question wasn't about who drives their kids, who rides a bus, or whether anyone is spoiled (soccer mom comment) for picking up student on the last day of school for early release at an open enrollment school. Many parents probably took half a day off from work to celebrate with their kids, which probably results in more traffic than normal. Keeping the pickup pattern all year would have been a good safety choice for the kids.
