Homeless woman on Lake Houston Parkway

Nothing "FREEr" in a "Free Country" than to be free of the financial and other burdens most folks have....That's a "choice", and if you like "freedom of choice", you should support it....Johnny Appleseed was businessman who owned much land, yet he chose a nomadic lifestyle, mostly sleeping outdoors under the stars...Everybody likes ole Johnny no?...

Cbear : Despite what the media likes to push, homeless folks aren't normally the victims of regular crime because they usually have nothing of value on them....The main crimes against them are "hate crimes" where they are attacked just for being homeless or being in an area where some snobs don't want them around....

As another thought, I'd like to mention that many retired folks enjoy becoming "homeless" themselves by selling their homes, buying an RV, and traveling the country, staying at various RV parks for months/seasons on end....Sure, it's not on foot but the principle is the same....

Does this woman have white hair that is sort of medium length and messy (for lack of a better term)? I have seen an older lady meeting that description wandering around the Creekwood Middle School area when taking my grandson to the Music school.
I didn't know she was homeless but did think she looked a bit disheveled and wondered if she suffered from a condition related to her age.
As far as saying she should get a job, etc- it isn't that unusual for an elderly woman finding themselves in dire straits if they lose a spouse especially if they never worked . This kind of situation could happen to someone with memory loss or no family willing to step up for them . She may have social security but that may be all and it doesn't go far depending on what one receives.
Navigating the system to get aid is very confusing and time consuming for the average person but for someone elderly it usually especially challenging. Going to a nursing home might be her safest option but that takes resources and to find a spot on a Medicaid list takes a lot of documentation and then there has to be a spot for the person .
If I see her again, I will attempt to speak to her. I'm in New England at the moment on holiday, but will watch for the poor soul when I return.
Being a widowed senior citizen myself I can only say by the grace of God, go I.

Nde3 : You dont know much about your "community". You are surrounded by people with mental health issues. Some may be able to contribute, some only appear to contribute.But you sound more like the person that has all the answers and unable to look at your own reflection. Carry on.
