Beware! From another website: So interesting incident just happened a young lady rang the door bell, letting me know that a rat infestation had taken place within the perimeter of heath dept recommending a safety check and would like permission to check the HVAC system, the attic, and other areas of our property….free of charge….I'm not letting anyone in my house without official notice……your thoughts Don't let anybody in your house. This is a scam.
GreentreeMom : I would tell them I have peeps on call for that stuff. But will say I would probably not have even answered the door.

CatalinaD : A lot of the Pest control people who go door to door are often roving salespeople…they work on 100% commission, and the company houses them as they move from town to town…last guy I talked to about it was from California.

GreentreeMom : I never let people in. I usually don't even go to the door. But I did call an air condition guy cause air went out. And you guessed it rats had chewed the outside wires.

Joe : Ok, that makes sense. He didn't have a business card, and we hadn't heard of the company he worked for so we thought it was a little suspicious. Still, if we needed that type of service we would call and make an appt for someone to come out. It seems like door to door salesman are becoming more rare these days, but I guess there are still some around.

Kittle : If we don't recognize someone on our Ring doorbell camera, we don't answer the door either. Friends and neighbors know to call us first so we're expecting them. Too many bad actors out there who make answering the door dangerous.

cbear : Yes I do but he is not very trainable. Took me two years to train him not to open the door. And he is not an absolute huge guy that is very terrifying.

GreentreeMom : I think the reasoning is totally made up…it's an excuse to get into your house, find something that needs fixing, then sell you a home repair or roofing job…
Joe : Or even more likely a scheme to have the " free inspection" result in open back doors or windows as the "inspector " distracts while others slip in and rob you of cash, jewelry and other valuables. Remember the "tree trimmers" recently?
