Does anyone have a whole house water filter system ? We are thin

What kind of maintenance does it require and what is the yearly cost of that maintenance? Is it just changing out a filter like we do on a refrigerator or AC unit?

I just bought a house with one. It is so nice to have soft water. But it does make the bath tub slippery. I don't know how much it costs to get it re charged with softener but I do like it.

I hate it!!! I couldnt tell a difference in the water. It has caused the old pipes in my house to rust due to high salt content. The maintenance is like $250 -350 to change the charcoal filters and they are big and heavy. Idk if i can do it myself. I have the damn thing unplugged because it beeped all the time and now I just have this mess on the side of my house.
Maybe if the house has plex or Pvc pipe it would be better.
