Harris County Detention Officer Charged With DWI After Crash in Humble Gerardo Segundo, a 21-year-old Harris County detention officer, is on administrative leave after being charged with misdemeanor DWI following a crash outside an Humble-area home. The crash reportedly took place around 1:50 AM on October 25th. Authorities say Segundo hit Pineda's fence and left. Pineda put the repair cost at $3,000 and said he and his wife had been sleeping just feet from where the truck struck. A trail of liquid led Precinct 4 deputies to a nearby home, according to court records. Deputies found a damaged pickup there and matched it with pieces left at the fence. The records describe bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcohol. Segundo reportedly declined a field sobriety test and was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. He also faced a criminal mischief charge over an allegation that he damaged the fence intentionally. A magistrate found insufficient evidence to support that allegation, and the charge was dismissed. HCSO said Segundo will remain on leave pending court proceedings. The DWI charge is an allegation, not a conviction.
