Pain management recommendation?

Hey everyone - I'm looking for recommendations for a pain management group/Dr here in the KW/Humble/Atascocita area.

I am *DESPERATELY* trying to avoid a third major spinal fusion surgery (even though my neurosurgeon keeps telling me that I need one) but I'm trying to put it off as long as I can. 😭 (I explain below)

My neurosurgeon won't give pain meds unless right after surgery (he wants the 100k surgery) and my GP's office no longer prescribes pain meds longer than 30 days so I've been without any meds for months. (Almost a year now) I did something to my neck/spine about 10 days ago and I've been in freaking AGONY ever since. I've tried Tylenol, NSAIDs, ice, heat, CBD, topicals (creams, patches, gels - all OTC), massage, acupuncture - You name it & I've tried it. I take gabapentin for nerve pain but it's not doing anything. (Especially at night) so I'm not sleeping much bc of that. I also take a muscle relaxer (as needed) but this isn't muscular so it doesn't do anything but make me sleepy during the day & I can't sleep during the day while taking care of my mother in law. (No, I won't smoke pot bc of my sobriety)

My mother in law's mobility is getting worse and worse & I just don't have the down time for another major surgery with a 8-12 week recovery. 😥 And she's now been diagnosed with severe wet macular degeneration & cataracts (both eyes) so she's going blind....quickly. (She will be 90 in 6 weeks) Very little mobility + damn near blindness = a huge mess. My husband works 50+ hours a week so I'm responsible for her, unfortunately.

I've called several pain management places but the wait times are insane. (Jan/Feb 2027 in some instances for new patients) and I don't know how I'm going to last that long.

Does anyone know of a pain management doctor they can recommend that won't take months to get in to? Even if you don't know the wait time, I'd appreciate some names so I can call and ask wait times & maybe be put on a waiting list.

I have Cigna (top tier plan) but - at this point - I'd be willing to pay out of pocket for some relief. 😭

Ugh. I understand that some people have addiction issues with pain meds - but it's so unfair to make people suffer so much unnecessarily. Why make them if you won't prescribe them to people in severe pain?? 🤬

You can comment here or PM me.

Thanks everyone. 💔

I received relief from neck/spine pain from Procura Pain Management near Luby's about 6 years ago. Pleased with service.

StormChaser :
I'm so sorry you are suffering. It seems the strongest pain reliever the doctors will prescribe is Tramadol. Can you take that? The pain management doctor that I have used in the past is Dr. Jeff Arthur. He is good but won't prescribe anything stronger than gabapentin.

I'm sorry you are still in pain and dealing with this. The one I used years ago was by Lubys . Some are calling it Procura but I don't remember that name. May be same place with a new name.
Prayers you find answers and prayers for healing.

I recommend PMRs. Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians. They deal with functionality and all modalities of treatment to improve it, including pain management. IMO pain management offerings only numbing.

I don't have any recommendations but I just want you to know I care about you and hate to hear of your suffering. You are such good friend especially to those like me that don't watch television and consider you our local weather source.
I pray that you can get referrals that will result in relief for you. I'm glad to that you are reaching out and seeking alternatives to your care. God bless you . 🙏🏼❤️

I have no helpful information on pain management. I hope you find relief.

Can your mother in law get a caregiver to come in for a few hours daily to help her with some things? A few hours a day of relief would help you.

I'm praying for your family. So much on your plate right now.

I tried two pain management doctors and just gave up. They will push for the surgery. I am avoiding fusion back surgery as well. My 2nd opinion doctor got me into "Nerve Flossing" and I do it easily at home and continue to not need meds with very little pain. You can you tube it as well.

I know you mentioned massage. Could a Chiropractor help the situation?
