14 year old dog that can no longer be taken care of. Please give advice.
She's a really sweet older dog but the owner cannot take care of her anymore. I'm hesitant to put her in a shelter because of the chance of her being put down. She's pretty shy but sweet when she becomes used to you. Any advice on what to do? Would anyone be interested in adopting her? She has all her shots and everything. She's a mix of corgi and chihuahua I think.

Hmm, a Chicorgie? We need pics at least. I am sure there is someone that would take her in for her last few years. She's probably well mannered and doesn't tear up the house so it shouldn't be too hard to find her a home.
Kittle, Donnawisdom and RolloTomaso reacted I don't have a photo of her right now but this pic from the internet is pretty similar. Just a lot older, hope that helps. Plus I do need her gone soon unfortunately because I'm leaving soon and can't continue to take care of her.

Prayers you find someone to take her in, I would however I am also in my later years. I have done this before by taking in an elderly lab and when she passed you would have thought I had lost a human it hurt so bad and I only had her for 2 and 1/2 years. I don't think my heart could take it again. It took me almost a year before I could let any of her things be used by another dog in my family.

A rescue is probably your best/safest option. They all have FB pages so I'd take pictures and send as much info as possible: health, vaccination status, temperament, good with cats/dogs/kids and what the situation is as far as needing to rehome her. A donation is always a good idea too. You are likely correct with your thoughts about turning her into a shelter. They are full but it does give her a chance to be adopted. If you rehome her yourself, ask for a fee and do a called vet check...find the number yourself and talk to someone other than just the name given to you. Dog flippers and dog fighters scroll pages looking for breeding stock, animals to sell at auctions and bait dogs. There are several local rescues: Dora's Dawgs and Katz dorasdawgsandkatz.or g, Tiny Paws is a small breed rescue tinypawsrescue.com and Camo rescue www.camorescue.com. I would contact as many as you can to see if anyone has an available foster. Thank you for trying to help find a home for this senior. Paws crossed!
