rocklady2024 : There was a lady on TV complaining it was not enough but she retired at age 55. Now she has to go back to work. My question would be, why did you retire so early, she left a lot of money on the table.

UptownGirl : 55 is clearly too young to retire. She really has screwed herself with that. I bet her check is super small. You loose a lot with each year that you retire early.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA UptownGirl :
I didn't think you could draw SS until you were in your 60s unless it was disability. How else can you get it before then?

UptownGirl : $75.00 a month will total~ about $900 a year on average. Some will get more and some will get less depending on their situation.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : I could see that if your were injured or something like that but she did not mention that in the interview. I got full benefits which is what I wanted to do.

KanKan : I have no clue! I have never heard of collecting that young. Surely, it is disability so it is SSI. I wonder if they get SS and SSI??? Can you get both?

KanKan : Here an article explaining age 55, you can but cannot collect until 62 if I am reading that right. Either way a ton of money left there.

@everyone , Here is an article about retiring at 55. I had no idea one could do this. You are taking a chance and you will have reduced SS.
