OK, I borrowed a pet carrier from a neighbor down the street and just got back from Pet Ranch and this cat is not chipped. Still no signs up in the neighborhood but I did leave my contact info at Pet Ranch in case someone asks if anyone found a cat.

So I guess in at least the short term I have a cat. It is either smart or I'm lucky because without a litter box I have been keeping a close eye on it but earlier it decided to go into the bathroom and I heard it get up on the counter but didn't think anything of it since it has been climbing on EVERYTHING exploring. Then I went in the bathroom and it dropped a deuce in the sink!!

I'm not a cat person, but if you let your pet out of your yard to roam, are they really lost?

The deuce in the sink is also why I am not a cat person. To each his own though.

Athens85 : The sink is better than the carpet or bed and I don't have a litter box for the cat so I can't complain. I don't want to get a litter box until I know this cat doesn't actually belong to someone who wants it back.

I'm not a cat person either, I really don't like them on the whole, but I do take them on an individual basis before deciding and this one I actually like because it is sweet and social so if I get stuck with it I won't be unhappy because my family likes it and wants to keep it if it doesn't already have a home.

Oh yay!!! I just read you will keep him if no owner is found. Use the top of a copier paper box for a makeshift litter box. Or cut down a box to a lid size. Works in a pinch. They also make disposable cardboard ones, but buying a permanent one is better than doing that as cost is not that much more, if even.

Kaylagirl : Ok, while I disagree with you that cats are awesome I do like some cats every so often and I do like this one. I am only keeping this cat for my wife and kids IF I don't find it actually has a home. From the condition of the cat from a health and cleanliness perspective it was not outside long before we found it so it is either someone nearby's cat or considering I found it on a corner lot of Trailwood Village Dr. it was likely just abandoned.

We will see. I know my family will be happy if this cat doesn't already have a home, and that will make me happy. It is very lucky it didn't do it's business on my bed or somewhere else though!!

Kaylagirl : I will get it a litter box for sure, I don't like picking cat crap out of the sink but it could be worse. I used to have a Fox Squirrel for a pet and if she wasn't close to her cage she would find a rag or napkin or newspaper. No idea where that came from!!

#msg6023129SteveT : That would be great and save me a lot of time today. Can you private message me how to arrange for me to stop by and borrow one? I'll have it back to you within an hour for sure.

Ronstang : Sorry I didn't see this earlier, I was on a 3 hour conference call this morning and I don't really check notifications much. I did see a PM from one person though. I should have given you my phone number in a PM.

I am glad that you were able to get a carrier. Sorry that you did not get any info for the cat.

As far as a litter box, I have used a cheap 27 gallon container with a lid and then cut a large square in the end for the cat to go into. They like to do their business in private. I left the lid on and was able to keep the litter, pooper scooper, deodorizer etc on the top. We kept it on the back porch.

An example is below but I had a smaller square and higher off the floor. It keep them from throwing all the litter outside of the box.

It's fine. When I didn't hear from you I realized my buddy's mom down the street probably had one for the little dogs they used to have and sure enough she did so I grabbed it, went to Pet Ranch, and had it back to her within the hour.

Not having info isn't a bad thing. I just needed to verify it wasn't chipped. My family wants this cat and from it's behavior after only 2 1/2 days it wants us. It can't get enough attention. Whenever anyone gets home it follows them and spends some time with them before returning to the den to find the next victim. Play, play, play! All it wants to do!

I'll wait a couple weeks and if I don't hear anything from anyone I will go have it fixed and get it's shots and then it has a new forever home.
