They responded immediately. Told me as long as it was the same height as before, I could proceed.

I'm sorry but...there are 2 homes in BB village which are painted a horrible shade of blue. They are in fact right next to each other. Called the "blueberry houses". Been that way for years and nothing has been done to them. Believe me when I say....it is pretty awful looking. Don't know if they got approved or not but, if I had to look at that, I would complain to HOA.
Not sure what HOAs authority about fences, after Texas legislatures passed that fence law a couple years ago.
I lived in Greentree for 12 years… and the HOA there is very active! They hounded me constantly. Once I began getting letters/threats about my front yard. Just 4 months prior to these letters, I had paid a small fortune to have a landscaper replace all mulch & many plants. And yes, I had a yard man who mowed/edged every 2 weeks. It took about a year+ before they stopped hounding me.
Another time it was about my garbage can. They first complained it needed to be replaced (it was approx 18 months old) Small holes caused by the garagemen dragging it was unacceptable! 2nd they became unhappy about where I stored my can during the week. (I was in a cul-du-sac on a large corner lot.) My garbage can was apparently only visible by the HOA… (I kept it inside my fence!🙄).
- those were the most lengthy troublesome events.

We replaced the fence with our next door neighbor after Hurricane Beryl and neither of use contacted the HOA. Our friends down the street repainted their house and front door the exact same color and the HOA challenged them for not getting prior approval. 😱
Oh that sounds awful. We built a new home in Walden in 1999… within 6 months we had to put up a wrought iron fence & gate! The teens next door thought it was funny to damage our property. The parents kept a fridge full of beer for them in their garage. - We moved out in 2001 for our sanity. 🤨
