Solution for E-Bike issues..............
I read in WSJ this week the AG in Los Angeles scheduled a buy back of e-bikes up to $1000 with monies confiscated from drug gangs. Injury related e-bike accidents have risen 2000% since 2022 and more than 1200 bikes will be destroyed and some parents prosecuted for child endangerment.

Hmm...not sure I agree to this. Parents made a bad decision to get these ebikes for their kids, now tax payers are having to pay for their bad decision?
One instance in LA is a 70 year old veteran walking was hit from behind and killed by minor on an E-bike doing wheelies. The parents are being prosecuted.

#msg6016925Joe : I doubt the drug gangs pay their taxes.

I really think the solution should be a legal one...maybe forced speed limit restrictions unless you are a certain age and get an ebike license, for example. Harsh fines to parents for kids driving without helmets, etc.

why do they need to use the money for that; there are Veterans in need, ,and schools that could put that money to better use. And what stops some of these parents from Taking the money, and buying junior Another one,and pocketing the surplus. I would not be a fan of giving money to people who simple need to...PARENT. No one needs to pay you to Do that; you asked God for children, and He gave them to you, so be responsible for your blessings.
How about we worry about something that's a REAL safety issue? Idk, maybe guns?Gray boxed for being political and/or controversial in a General Chat discussion.

I was in my front yard this evening and heard the sound of an electric vehicle. It was a young boy, maybe 12, zooming by faster than cars drive by, on a electric thing that looked more like a motorcycle. Then a couple minutes later he comes by driving by again doing a wheely down the street. I am worried a kid like that is going to get seriously hurt.

As much as everyone wants to hate on them, I love how kids are outside and having fun. They need a place to ride, Kingwood is 14,000 acres and we cant get 1/2-1 acre for a park for the kids to ride in? id build a track for them, I have equipment to build up something.
I am all for kids outside, having fun. Made sure mine were out and enjoying, as they grew. But...there is a Marked difference between outdoor fun and activity, and riding a vehicle that can be Very dangerous, in the hands of immature youth; too young to understand traffic flow, untrained in the ways of defensive driving, and being pitted against a 2-4K pound automobile..not a good 'contest' for them to enter into.
