Just curious about the different village pools…why not keep them open on weekends during September? Probably could get some high school students to still be life guards as a weekend job. The pools still have weekly maintenance even when closed. Is it just too costly or would be too crowded? Wondering how they could be utilized a bit longer than 3 or 4 months out of the year, if possible….

Some villages only open pools with lifeguards.
Who is in the pool (pun intended) of lifeguards? Short answer, college and high school students. So, the college students are already gone, reducing the availability. Take into account that some of the high school students who were lifeguards have other academic, athletic, personal activities while school is in session, this can severely limit any availability.
While the weather is warm enough, the lifeguard availability is a limiting factor.
There is an expense (paying the lifeguards, extra pool cleanings, etc.) to having the pool open. Some villages may only budget for a certain amount of time.

There are a few still open. Greentree is open on weekends until next weekend. Then its closed for fall.

We tried that but the attendance was so low with some week-ends no one came to swim. It is something about once school starts and all the other activities people are done with the pool.

I believe next weekend is the last weekend they will be open this season.

I've often wondered the same thing myself. I don't know for sure but suspect that it would be difficult to staff that many pools with life guards. I believe many of the guards are high school or college students.
Since we live in a warm climate it would be nice to have longer access to the pools. Even if they had a smaller life guard crew and kept certain pools open for a longer season.

I was going to say.. the Kings River pool is almost always empty so I can understand not paying someone to keep it open.. Maybe they could pick 2 Kingwood Pools to have a longer season.. I just don't see many of them getting much use...

My son lives in a gated community in spring and they have a thing called SAYOR : swim at your own Risk. Adults have to fill out a form of responsibility and no one under the age of 16 is allowed at the pool, alone. There are no lifeguards and that is in the form that is signed. They do have someone who comes in to one of the two pool areas every few hours to sweep through and make sure there are no younger children there under the age of 16 and they also have a phone number listed clearly on the gate that says" if you see children under the age of 16, please text or call this number". They keep their pool open on weekends through The end of September, this way.
