#msg6012449I dont think anyone has an extra $200 sitting around right now. Didn't they take that into consideration?? They interviewed a trucker yesterday on the news. He hauls frozen foods all over the country. His fuel bill went from $3,000 and week to $7,000 a week he paid this week. He can't afford to do it anymore.

@JCajun : I will argue against your trucker story. Truckers (even here in Houston) have been and still implementing emergency fuel surcharges to their customers. Those costs are usually then are passed on to consumers. Very few truckers will absorb the additional cost in diesel.

@JCajun :
Oh, I'm agree with you. I know they are feeling the pain because it is an immediate effect on their profit. Even if they pass on the increase, they won't see it make up for the cost increase for some time.

#msg6012055Do you have extra $200 ?

@FRUGAL : Not for taxes! They should have tightened their belt like we would. The tax payer is a cash cow and they have an endless supply of money. They never budget anything and they give raises that are over the top!

#msg6012021Cbear : It was approved. Hilda was pretty angry about it

@NeenaC0629 : That is an act! She is preparing to run for some other office and wants to be looked at as if she is a fiscally responsible person. She has never worried about spending/taxing before.

#msg6012413GiggleMugs : Very sad. Well, they too will have to pay higher taxes on their homes so take that!!

@Cbear : At $350 -$400K per year they don't have to worry about how much taxes are. We pay their outrageous salaries.

@oldarn : Yeah, Have you thought about a job change? You need to become a constable so you to can make $305k a year on the tax payers.

#msg6012415MissAmericanPie : Seniors and frozen ceiling on school taxes? Can you explain?

@Cbear : If you are 65 or older, your school taxes are frozen the year you turned 65 and claimed that exemption. They can go down but not up. The county taxes are also much reduced due to senior exemptions that greatly reduce them. I doubt even those will move much at all.

AI
will the new raise in harris co prop taxes affect seniors with frozen status
Seniors in Harris County with frozen property tax status will not see an increase in their school district taxes due to rising property values. Their tax amount is locked at the level they paid in the year they qualified for the exemption, regardless of any increases in appraised value or tax rates.

I wish we could take what we have here and put it on 5 acres an hour north of here. It would be perfect
