#msg5994597They started a petition and outlined clear goals. I dont think a lack of maturity is in play here.

#msg5994651we still pay school taxes, so I'll offer my two cents
I have a couple of thousand DOLLARS worth to offer to this then!
Claiming a dress code should be the same for boys and girls is ridiculous.

Honestly I would love to see uniforms. My great niece and nephew go to a private school . They are required to wear short or long sleeve polo style shirts with no visible logo. They can wear kaki or navy uniform style Bermuda shorts. Same with slacks. Girls can wear kaki or navy uniform skirts or jumpers as well as the slacks and Bermuda shorts. Same with cardigan sweaters - kaki or navy uniform skirts, or solid colored sweaters vests for both genders .
No hoodies or jackets may be worn in class. Even their backpacks and shoes and socks are regulated .
Uniforms such as these are available very reasonably at almost every store and Amazon.
Less headaches for parents and staff and less bullying about clothing brand names.

Agree with uniforms. Wore them for my first 2 years of high school.' hey were comfortable. Saves parents a Lot of money, too, as it takes away the clothing and shoe competition, and a student has to stand out via their 'own'; personality, accomplishments, integrity and more.
I love the idea of uniforms. Some kids struggle with clothing because of cost and they could look like any other kid as school. And uniforms are less distracting to put more focus on learning.

My kids 100% could have written this in middle school and remember they have AI to help now too.

Parts but not all: overly tight clothes. suggestive slogans, tank tops, short shorts (not that most boys would wear them) apply to both. Required undergarments not the same.
I went to a very liberal magnet school in New Orleans in the early 70's. We had no dress code. I wore hot pants and short skirts to school. Y'all would have thought I was a little slut. LOL!

#msg5994815Athens85 : And more consistently. For example, I dropped off my dd and her best friend to 9th grade one year. Both skirts were the exact shortness. Not 'ho' short, but short. One got sent home, the other didn't. That said, lm a huge fan of uniforms. It would save parents a small fortune and make school more about learning than the competitiveness of fashion. School should be about learning, not a fashion house. Call me old fashion, silly, set in my ways, even ridiculous……been called much worse.
But still held to different dress codes. I'm guessing you agree with the difference applied in that situation.
