E-Bikes and E-Scooters have become increasingly popular with children and teenagers. At the same time, law enforcement officers and community members have raised concerns about the safety of students, staff, and visitors when these vehicles are operated on or around school campuses. To help keep everyone safe, Humble ISD is implementing the following procedures for the 2026-2027 school year.
Students who park an E-Bike or E-Scooter on a Humble ISD campus will be required to display a permit sticker indicating that both the parent and student have completed the district's required safety training and acknowledged the safety guidelines.

Txbutterfly : This is probably a good idea. Hopefully the cross walk helpers have the ability to report kids behaving wrecklessly as well.
In a major school district near Dallas they just have a blanket policy "no scooters allowed."
Joe : This is a good idea. My dog was bumped from behind by some kid on a scooter who didn't slow down never mind stop, announce he was coming, or move to the other side of the walkway.

Txbutterfly : Thank you for posting, I also saw this and posted it, but I took mine down. It looks like this will make a lot of people happier, and hopefully safer for the kids.

New Requirements for Students Riding E-Bikes and E-Scooters to School Students who park an E-Bike or E-Scooter on a Humble ISD campus will be required to display a permit sticker indicating that both the parent and student have completed the district's required safety training and acknowledged the safety guidelines. To provide families with time to complete the requirements and receive their permit stickers, campuses will begin enforcing the permit requirement on Tuesday, September 8, following the Labor Day holiday. If your child will ride an E-Bike or E-Scooter to school: Parents should visit humbleisd.net/ridesmart to view the E-Bike/E-Scooter Safety Presentation. Parents should complete and electronically sign the Parent Signature Form, confirming they understand the district's safety guidelines. A separate form is required for each student. After the parent submits the form, the campus will schedule a time during the school day for the student to view the safety presentation and sign a Student Safety Acknowledgement Form. Once these steps have been completed, the student will receive a permit for the current school year as a sticker that must be displayed on the student's E-Bike or E-Scooter whenever it is on
Txbutterfly : Thrilled to see steps are being taken on safety awareness. I do not believe 8 year olds and below should be allowed to share these bikes with our roadways no matter how many safety courses they pass under non emergency circumstances. Just too young, but It's a start. I had hoped they would be outright banned during school hours but I'm thankful for this first step.

Ruger5 : You can thank Precinct 4 Constables. They sent letters to the school districts telling them to make policies regarding these vehicles.
Joe : Our district may come to that, too, and I hope it does not take someone getting hospitalized, or worse. This at least shows they are trying to please everyone who Wants their child to ride one of these, to school. Then, when they decide to ban them, they can refer to the attempt to have the kids ride them safely.
Zakangel : I do too; the school area may be one of the safest for these kids, due to generally slower traffic, etc. It is when they are zooming across very busy parking lots, running Stop signs in traffic, and paying No attention to the traffic, that chills me. :0 But, glad they are starting somewhere, and the safety course might help.
