2 year anniversary of Beryl. Made landfall in Houston 7-8-24.

cbear : Our family was in a beachfront beach house on Surfside Beach for our family reunion. Some rode it out in the house, some went to their local homes until it passed and my family unit went to San Luis on seawall in Galveston for a front row view. We have a home generator so our neighbors stayed at our home.

The Lord showed his power and twisted a tree next door do that it would fall in our yard and not on our house.

I had a pine from 3 houses down clip the side of my house, punch through the back windows and explode my deck, lol good times….NOT. 😭

It was my wife and I's anniversary so we went to New York for a couple of days. My parents were home with our kids. Tried to get home ASAP but IAH was a mess... Ended up flying back to San Antonio on the 8th. They were all rattled but luckily damage to the house was minimal (small branch punctured the roof in one spot and another tore off a gutter). The generator was on for a week straight. I felt very fortunate. Two houses in our street had pine trees destroy their roof.

We were blessed with no structural damage. No power for 10-12 days (I don't remember exact number). Thankfully we have a Generac.

It's strange how time flies, it doesn't seem like it was two years ago. For some reason it feels like that also happened last year. We were also without power for about 10 days, had a couple of trees come down, one on our property, and I saw a pine come down on my neighbor's house. It was wild, and scary, and I don't know if we knew at the time how bad it was going to be. I'm truly hoping for another quiet hurricane season this year.

I was kinda caviler about that storm. Totally thought it was going to pass us by... So these are the hurricane supplies I bought the day before 😂 Oops - we were without power for well over a week. Never got to eat the ice cream 😥

cbear : That's one anniversary I won't be celebrating. What a mess that whole thing was. Thank goodness for our generator.

I worked...a Lot, during Beryl. Just remember it as a lot of quick meals and little sleep.

cbear : Beryl was kind of a surprise. I thought it was going to be a little tropical storm. Our power was out for what felt like forever!
