RANT...New $5 trash service fee....and yet, 311 said it would be 2 weeks before COH can deliver a new trash container....but I can drive down and pick one up myself if I want it sooner. And yes, it has been 2 weeks and still no container. I'm not the only person in our area who has needed a new container and couldn't get it brought out. Guess Flickinger's office is the next contact. Anyone else had this issue? Pick up isn't the issue, it's getting the container.

About a year ago the city truck crushed our can so that it wouldn't roll. It took about 2 months to get a replacement. I called several times and they kept saying the order was in the system. Luckily my neighbor had room in his can so we put our trash in with his while we waited for a new can.

#msg5941159sheltielover : Following. Were in need of one too. A neighbor switched out ours (good condition) for their banged up broken one. 🙃 What is the location to pick up a new one?

I wonder, for those of us who live in a village with BestTrash as a provider, if the COH will charge us the $5.00 fee. They say they are going to add it to the water bill🧐

#msg5941378Murry : That is not a good neighbor! When you get the new one you need to paint your address on it or mark it in some way so he can't take the new one.

When I replaced it I went and got the stencils and put it on our new one.
They didn't say once we replied that we couldn't pick it up. Probably in the downtown area.
Ugh...having to wait 2 months is ridiculous, but someone else told me the same thing. Our order says it is supposed to be completed on June 6....as we still sit looking at the broken can. So Will be calling today to see what the latest excuse is on delivering a new one.
I would protest by burning all rubbish in a burn pit late at night and scrapping the metal.

I posted this on another thread... If a village has contracted with a private service, COH subsidizes the HOA for the village $6/month per home.
In MBV, the HOA sends that to Best Trash. The ~$7,200/month helps offset the cost to residents for the service.
Chris Hollins, Houston City Controller, said on the news that he doesn't understand why they are going to charge poor folk $5 per month for trash pickup when they are giving the rich folk who have private service $6 per month.
Well Chris, here's a hint. COH Solid Waste does not have the equipment nor the manpower to add thousands upon thousands of additional homes for pickup. I hear this Directly from Mark Wilfork the previous COH Solid Waste Manager firsthand on several occasions. The other thing Chris is the "rich folk" want reliable service. It has been this way for 30+/- years. Finally, one of the provisions in the original proposal for charging for COH garbage pickup is that when the fee incrementally hits its maximum of $25/month (2032?) that the "rich folk" would also lose their subsidy.
