I would like to know how long some of the Kingwood residents have been here. It would be cool to see if anyone here has been here since Kingwood broke ground. Although I'm new to posting on Kingwood.com, I've been living here since 1994. Before then I was living in the Alief area (suburb of Houston). We decided to move away from that area because crime was on the rise and someone actually got shot at a gas station where we would frequently visit. I chose Kingwood (over the Woodlands) even though I knew it was going to be a long haul to work everyday (not so bad anymore with the expressway). So glad we moved here. So many great people here and some of the best eating establishments too. So how long have you been living here?

Trailwood was the first village and it opened around 1971. I know that we had someone on here who lived off of the old North Park Road (had a different name at the time) that came on here a long time ago and posted a really old photo, way before the 70s, of that area, which is kind of cool. It was an old family photo of his.

I moved to Atascocita/Humble in 1986. Raised kids and then downsized 3 years ago and moved closer to Kingwood/Porter area.
I keep Doctors in Kingwood area because it is still close.
This is why I love KDC because I can keep track what's going on😎

As a child, I was here when KW broke ground, but we did not live there. Came back when my kids were elementary age and built a house in KW, in 1992.

I grew up north of here but my mom worked in KW in the 70s when it started and my dad worked for the paving co. That did the streets.
So I have seen it grow and change through the years.
There are residents from the 70s online. Sadly, a lot are gone from those days, as they would be in mid to late 70s now or older.
ruger5 when did yall get here?

Moved to Kingwood in 1991. Familiar with Alief. We moved here from west Houston.
wow! That's incredible. I guess you were here when it really was a "Livable Forest".
