probably a lot of it from last winter. good thing they are taking care of it now!
There's so many weak and/or diseased trees that are still standing til a storm comes through…it's kind of shocking to see what's left after the clean up and the loss is so clearly seen. The vines and junk will come roaring back but the trees are just gone. Greentree has been hit very hard. This is just one area like this, there are many others that look like this. As i cycle through Kingwood, I haven't seen other areas this bad.
As barren as it looks, it had to be done!
I agree that it had to be done. It looks/looked horrible. My DH went to one of the association meetings for the GT trails and was told they didn't have the money to clean it up

#msg5926225MissAmericanPie : Well the undergrowth is not good for the trees.
The old damaged trees still standing concern me. I remember some years back a young lady was driving westbound on Kingwood Drive somewhere down by HEB and a damaged tree fell on her car and killed her. I'll deal with a year or two of looking a bit barren (and I agree it certainly does look barren) to avoid losing another neighbors life.

Curious how it will handle what's coming. Can't imagine it will help much.
Wouldn't it be cool if Kingwood did something like this on a smaller scale with 1000s of wildflower native seeds were put along the trails. The bees and butterflies would be so happy. Not sure what organization would have that budget. I really wish we were allows to raise lightening bugs too here. I tried to buy some but online it says it was illegal
Reference: TxDOT plants roughly 30,000 pounds of wildflower seeds every year along Texas highways.
