#msg5920492They're no different than bikes, only more popular.
#msg5920498StinksMcNulty : I think the main issue is a higher speed, and maybe less control. Not sure how much of an issue it really is...I wonder when we'll start getting stats about eBike injuries...

Hmm...that info alone is not enough to know. You'd need some way to compare increase in eBike usage to determine if eBikes were per capita more dangerous than regular bikes, since eBike usage is going up...

#msg5920517Joe : um what? When is the last time you saw a bicycle bearing Down Kingwood Dr., Sandwich between two 6 ton chunks of steel? Forget the fact it's an eight year-old.
#msg5920520Ruger5 : I like to rely on hard data when possible, rather than intuition about that kind of thing...I don't have enough data to know, for example, if eBikes are 3% more dangerous, or 80% more dangerous...

Hmm...I'm not sure I have the data, or if it's fully in yet...eBikes have really surged recently...
We almost hit I would say a 12 or 13 boy on Monday night. We were stopped on Rustic Woods and Lake Houston Parkway. The light turned green and we preceded to turn left with the left arrow green. This boy was crossing on Lake Houston Parkway by the Wendy's he was riding at an angle from Wendy's to the medium on the other side of the street. It was around 8:25pm he had no helmet and dressed in dark clothing. My husband slammed on the brakes because the boy never stopped to see if anyone was turning left. They really need to follow street lights and wear clothing we can see in the evening. This summer may have some dire consequences for these boys and girls.

I really can't wait for completely self driving cars that have super-human reflexes...would save a lot of kids' lives and reduce my stress....
Parents really need to talk to their children. This happened today. So heartbreaking. www.fox26houston.com /news/juvenile-injur ed-mini-bike-crash-e lla-boulevard-w
