Interview with Dana Poitevint, Owner of Your Style on Point Boutique - Kingwood

As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Dana Poitevint, Owner of Your Style on Point Boutique!

Tell us a bit about your business:

Your Style on Point is a women’s clothing and accessories boutique. I love helping ladies of all ages pick just the right color, size and style paired with purses, shoes or earrings to create their next favorite outfit.

Introducing NEW hours: 11am-2pm Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and by appointment.

What does your business offer and how long have you been around? My goal is to offer cute, comfortable, affordable and stylish clothing you can wear from running errands to date night. My approach to each guest is to offer personal styling solutions and suggestions to make them feel their cutest and reach for those outfits time and again.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
I was a kindergarten teacher before deciding to open my own boutique. I was looking for something I enjoyed and could do at home and online so I could be more active in my kids' lives. Your Style On Point opened as an online boutique in the beginning of 2017 and it has only grown from there. There have definitely been LOTS of ups and downs but I still enjoy what I do everyday and that is what matters most!

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business.

What are you known for? I am known for my cute clothes at affordable prices. People also comment on my frequent themed and seasonal events that make

dropping by to shop feel extra-special. Also, the variety of items offered allows YSOP to be a one stop shop!

What are you known for? Creating a fun shopping experience with amazing customer service makes your shopping experience memorable. We offer items that are on trend, affordable and can’t be found anywhere else.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner?
I was born on Long Island NY and moved to central Florida when I was 10. I

met my husband in 2006, and married him on the same day in 2008. September 20th is a very important day for us! We have three incredible children and two dalmatians.

What is your background? One of my favorite quotes is from Confucius “Choose a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”. In 2017 I was introduced to the boutique/fashion world and never looked back. Your Style On Point has helped me continuously grow, personally and

professionally. I have big goals for my boutique and I look forward to going to work everyday to pursue those goals.

Any other changes to your business model?
Starting this month, we are booking ladies night Home Party Events for the Fall season and beyond. All you need

to do is provide snacks and drinks invite 6-12 friends. I will do the rest! It can be at your house or my boutique (if at a home I will provide limited inventory). The more ladies that come and the money the ladies spend, the more fun we have and the hostess will receive YSOP credit to the spend at the shop. Themed private shopping parties can be a lot of fun. Consider Tacos and Tailgating for those upcoming sporting events, Friendsgiving to enjoy each other’s company and for the holidays, why not a brunch-themed Presents and Prosecco! Don’t forget to include online friends too.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
