we sat down this week with Matthew Miller, operations manager of Weather Shield Structures.
Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer and how long have you been around?
At
Weather Shield we take a lot of pride in being fun and dependable for
our clients! We want to be you and your neighbor's favorite roof guys!
We offer turn key roofing services, to both homes and business in and
around the Kingwood area and beyond!
How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
I
started in the construction industry when I was 23 years old, over 16
years ago. I was young, ambitious, and clueless! Ha! As a young father
of 2, I knew I wanted to work with my hands, and have the freedom and
the ability to coach my kids ball teams, be there for school functions,
and just be present. I also just love the personal interaction I get to
have with all of my awesome clients. I'm very much a people person!
Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
We
take a lot of personal pride on being relatable, honest, and super cool
with our clients. We are just normal guys, who happen to have a gift of
producing very high quality roofing systems, AND quality, long-lasting
relationships. We are known for turning every client into a friend for
life! Once you meet us, we'll be your roof guys forever! Guarantee it.
What is your favorite part of running this business?
Hands
down my favorite part of running this business is being able to
legitimately help people, who don't even realize that they can be
helped. What I mean by that is, often times, we are able to get new
roofs installed on our clients homes without them having to pay a large
amount of money to do so. Roofs are expensive. We have a playbook we go
to for every situation, and can get insurance companies to cover almost
all of the cost often times for a new roof.
Who is your target market or ideal customer/client?
My
target market is every single homeowner in Kingwood! Also, commercial
property owners as well. We build roofs on $3,000,000 homes, and we
build roofs on $200,000 homes. No matter what type of roofing system,
shingle, metal, clay or concrete tile, commercial flat roofs, or fluid
applied roofing systems. We have experts in every department with years
of experience.
Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
I'm
a proud father of 6 awesome children, from 20 years old to a newborn! I
have done it all, as it relates to the roofing and construction
industry over my 16 year career thus far. I lived in the Virgin Islands
from 2018-2020 with my family and my crews helping rebuild the island of
St. Croix after a couple devastating hurricanes that absolutely leveled
that area. It was the experience of a lifetime. We came back home to
Texas in the Spring of 2020 when covid happened and things were starting
to get weird around the world, entire countries shutting down, etc. It
was time to come home and help my neighbors here in Kingwood.
Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
We
are currently running a "Hurricane Special". For every roof replacement
we complete, we will be giving the homeowner a 3500-watt generator! You
never know when you may need it! We all know what its like to be without
power. So we want to help our clients be prepared, just in case! This special lasts until the end of October.
We
also provide our clients with free annual lifetime roof checkups after a
roof installation. If we replace your roof, we will assume
responsibility for coming out, free of charge once a year, and
perform a free inspection that comes with a full photo report, every
year, for the life of the roof! You won't find any of our competitors
offering this type of value!
Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?

love our clients, and we love this community. We were born here, we
live here, and we're not going anywhere. We simply want to serve you,
and we want to be your roof guys!
How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
We
want to grow into the premier and preferred roofing company in this
north Houston market. We are a Kingwood based company, and we are
focused on investing back into this incredible community, whether it be
youth leadership programs, volunteering at events, or educating at
school career days! All of which we do and have done... we just want to be
the "go to" hometown roofers for all of you awesome folks!
