What happens to someone who dies alone in their home, and has no next-of-kin to come collect their possessions? At least one of the people in the attachment is in that sad situation, and was a resident of Kingwood.

The mission of the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is to provide medical examiner and crime laboratory services of the highest quality in an unbiased manner with uncompromised integrity. On a regular basis, we have both decedents who are unknown, and decedents who are identified but have no known next-of-kin. If we cannot find next-of-kin, the decedent must go to county burial.

At this page on our website, we have unknown decedents from the past: https://ifs.harriscountytx.gov/Pages/UnidentifiedDecendentFliers.aspx

It is not an appropriate page for young people to view.
