Interview With Ali Syed of Cellphone Repair & More - Kingwood

As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, we sat down this week with Ali Syed, owner of Cellphone Repair & More.

Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?

We have been around since 2013. Cellphone Repair & More has been servicing the electronic needs of Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Diboll, and the rest of Deep East Texas for 8 years now. We offer phone repair, tablet repair, laptop repair, cash for phones, and a wide assortment of new and used phones for sale. Whether you've got a cracked Galaxy screen, a bad iPhone battery, or your phone won't charge, we can fix it! Our store in Kingwood is now open, right at the front on Kingwood drive near the Shell gas station on Chestnut Ridge.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
We decided to get involved in this line of work because passion ignites our work, and, like a rocket, it accelerates and passes roadblocks that may come about. Any obstacle that comes our way is accepted and fought off with a creative solution. It all started with curiosity and satisfaction of fixing things that are not working.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
It's all about doing more and doing it right. We are proud of our work because it is more than a business- it is a passion. We enjoy what we do and that separates us from the competition.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
The favorite part of running this business is our happy customers and their smile after a fix. That, and dealing with new technical challenges.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
Whoever uses electronics is our ideal customer and a friend who helps us with new challenges to get better than before.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
I come from a business background and I am an entrepreneur. Being a business developer and an active member of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of a big city gives me a lot of exposure. Not only that, but I get to meet all sorts of people: crazy solo entrepreneurs, tech gurus, investors with loads of money, government people and all walks of life.

Growth is everything for us and we believe in an honest & steady business plan, we plan to promote and invest in people and open new business every 2 years and hand it over to a new talent with passion to work.
