As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Jeff Pahde, owner of Jet-Stream Pressure Washing.

Tell us a bit about your business:  What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
Jet-Stream Services has taken 20 years of experience with commercial and residential pressure washing, and funneled it into a small, concentrated company. This keeps our overhead to a minimum which means our customers save money. We offer a professional and cost-effective solution for home exterior cleaning.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
I love “instant gratification”. I learned that power washing gives me that. There’s nothing more satisfying than taking a dirty home, brightening it up, and making it look new again.
This all started with a neighbor of mine in 2001. At the time, he was a full time driver for UPS. Shortly after tropical storm Allison, there were a lot of businesses on his route that suffered damage. He came home one day and asked me if I would be interested in helping him help them. Naturally, I agreed.
We started with using one of his trailers, loading it up flood damaged sheetrock, wood, etc. and taking it to the city dump. Once we cleared all the debris from the business, the floors of the warehouse were a mess. This was a 150,000 square foot facility, so it became clear that a push broom or two was not going to do the trick
We rented an industrial sweeping machine and got the floors cleaned up. The facility manager was ecstatic with what we had done. He asked if we could find a way to get the oil stains off the floor. We then rented a pressure washer and wound up cleaning the entire floor. After we finished, the place looked brand new. The facility manager handed us a check for the going rate for power washing back in 2001, which was 14 cents a square foot.
We were “floored” by what that amounted to, considering we were originally there as volunteers. My partner and I politely declined the check, but he insisted we take payment for our work. After this labor of love, the facility manager for that warehouse began spreading the word about our willingness to help, coupled with our positive attitudes. As word got out, our “volunteer “ business began to grow into an actual business. My partner and I still work together however, he has continued with the commercial side of the business, whereas I focus on the light commercial and residential side of things.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
We’re proud of the fact that we still believe that the customer always comes first. With that in mind, it doesn’t matter what the circumstances are, the job is not finished until our customer is completely satisfied with the job performed.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
I absolutely love working with customers and being able to provide solutions to seemingly unsolvable problems. I guess you could say I enjoy being people’s  “go-to guy”. It really gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment!

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
I’d have to say that my ideal customer is the one that has been taken advantage of by other companies. There’s nothing that gives me more pleasure than instilling confidence back into a client that has had a bad experience. Customer service is my number one priority and people appreciate that.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
I have a strong sense of urgency pertaining to meeting our customers needs. My background in in customer service and getting the job done right, stems back as far as I can remember. Both of my parents owned their own businesses and I got to see firsthand just how “3D” it can be: Drive, Devotion and Dedication.  Since I was a teenager these traits have been instilled in me and in my business they drive my goals and customer service experience.

Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
With the launching of Jet-Stream and the remnants of Harvey’s aftermath still lingering around us, we are offering $125 for driveway, sidewalk, and curb cleaning for new customers. We are also offering 20% off patios and home washing, to clients that have an appointment scheduled by August 30, 2021. We also understand that no two homes are the same, be sure to ask for current discounts and offerings and we’ll be happy to work with you.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?

As a longtime resident of Kingwood, all of my customers are my neighbors. They will always be treated like a friend and neighbor.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
Through consistent customer driven satisfaction and word of mouth. Jet Stream’s reputation as being the company that friends and neighbors are proud to recommend to anyone, not only will help the business grow and thrive, but it will also bring me great happiness and satisfaction to know I am the reason behind that reputation.
