The Kingwood Montessori Dual Language Program fosters bilingualism, biliteracy, enhanced awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity, and high levels of academic achievement through instruction in two languages.
At Kingwood Montessori supporting our children in being globally adaptable is of paramount importance to us. Many of our families have relocated to Kingwood for work having come from all parts of the globe.
Kingwood Montessori parents look for a diverse experience in education for their children. They know that we live in a world where the ability to communicate between countries and different cultures is paramount and therefore having a child who has been exposed to two or more languages will prepare them for a successful future in the global workplace. The early years are when children establish strong neurological connections for languages. This period offers us the perfect opportunity to set the foundation for bilingualism.
Consistent with our commitment for our children to be global citizens, Kingwood Montessori cherishes diversity of all kinds. We honor the diversity in the Montessori training of our teachers, we honor all beliefs, we honor personal life-affirming choices, and we honor nature and all life.
At Kingwood Montessori we want children to understand, speak, read and write in both English and Spanish. Begin at the beginning; the earlier you start hearing languages the better.
Young Children’s Community (YCC 12-18 months) - children are introduced to conversational English and Spanish. Children naturally learn dual pathways to understand the world.
Toddler environment (T – 18 months to 3 years) - children reaffirm their understanding of English, American Sign Language, and Spanish.
Early Childhood environment EC 3 – 5 years) - children place their understanding of English and Spanish into an academic framework. Their confidence in understanding, reading and speaking Spanish and English grows and flourishes.
Elementary – children speak, read and write Spanish with the Spanish specialist. The Spanish teacher guides students through the curriculum to ensure confidence and understanding.
Kingwood Montessori School is committed to set the stage for linguistic success for every child.
