As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Cynthia Mackinnon, franchise owner of The Lash Lounge.

Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
We specialize in lash extensions, tinting and lifting of lashes, tinting of the brows and threading. We customize the lash design to compliment the client’s natural beauty. From the moment you walk in, you will be treated to an incredible experience. We provide the best eyelash extension services in the area and deliver precisely the look you want during our expert consultative process.

We also sell specific products to help you care for lash extensions, offering an eyelash cleanser, makeup remover, mascara, and sealants that are designed to protect the lashes longer.
In February this year, we had our soft opening in Kingwood. We initially bought three franchises in 2017 and this location is the first we’ve opened. We do plan to open two other locations in North Houston.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work?
My sister and co-owner, Carol Hartley, and I chose The Lash Lounge franchise because they are dedicated to setting the standard for exceptional skills and service, maintaining the integrity of the lash and making women feel confident and well cared for.
I’ve been a nurse for over 40 years with extensive management experience and Carol has a business degree in finance. We make a great team!

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
The Lash Lounge was founded by industry icon Anna Phillips in 2006; it’s the premiere luxury salon for eyelash extensions. Anna painstakingly refined the semi-permanent lash extension system to deliver a customized code for each client.
My sister and I are proud to be the owners of this business. We employ the best Lash Artists in the area that have access to the best technology, training and standards.
We also have memberships that allow clients to save money on services as well as products.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
It’s so rewarding to see our customer’s faces when they get their first set of lashes. You feel their excitement and see their confidence in their appearance.
When we opened this location, we thought we would attract a young clientele. However, women of all ages are also falling in love with our customized system; we even have a client who is in her 80’s. She is so cute!

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
Our ideal customer is any woman who is seeking no hassle mornings with flawless eyelash extensions that are customized truly just for them, and who wants to feel beautiful.
Many of our customers are also very happy to learn that we also offer eyebrow and eyelash tinting, lash lifting, and eyebrow threading.
We also love our male clients that come to get their eyebrows threaded.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?
Carol’s son has autism and we are very supportive of autism-related causes. We love to support our local community with fundraisers, such as the dance team in Kingwood, Mothers Against Cancer and the food bank.
Those who mention this article can receive a 20 percent discount off any service.
We offer promotions frequently on our website. In the past, we’ve run promotions during Nurse’s week, teacher’s appreciation week and prom. To schedule your appointment, to review our current special offer or to learn how you can enjoy discounted refills and member perks, visit our website. How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
We will continue to spread the word in Kingwood that lashes are our passion. We recently had a ribbon cutting with the Greater East Montgomery County Chamber and plan to be active in this community.
