As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Jeff Pahde, owner of Jet-Stream Pressure Washing.

Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
Jet-Stream Services has taken 20 years of experience with commercial and residential pressure washing, and funneled it into a small, concentrated company. This keeps our overhead to a minimum, saving you money. We offer a professional and cost-effective solution for home exterior cleaning including gutter debris removal and downspout clearing, roof cleaning including leaf/pine needle removal and algae and mold removal.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
It’s been said that I take a liking to “instant gratification”. I learned that power washing gives me that instant gratification. There’s nothing more satisfying than taking a dirty home, brightening it up, making it look new again. It all started with a neighbor back in 2001. At the time, he was a driver for UPS full time. Shortly After Tropical Storm Allison, there were a lot of businesses on his route that suffered damage. He came home one day and asked me if I would be interested in helping. Naturally I agreed, so we started by using one of his trailers, loading up flood damaged sheetrock, wood, etc. and taking it to the city dump. Once we cleared all the debris, it was time to clean up the floors in the warehouse. Being a 150,000 square foot facility, it was clear that a push broom or two was not going to be enough. We rented an industrial sweeping machine and got the floors cleaned up. The facility manager was ecstatic with what we had done, he asked if we could find a way to get the oil stains from the floor. We then rented a pressure washer and wound up cleaning the entire floor. After we finished, the facility manager handed us a check for the going rate for power washing back in 2001, which was 14 cents a square foot. We were “floored” by what that amounted to, considering we were there to volunteer. My partner and I politely declined the offering but was quickly countered by an insistent “take it”. Furthermore, the facility manager for that warehouse spread the word about our willingness to help, coupled with positive attitudes made it an enjoyable experience for all. My partner and I still work together however, he has continued with the commercial side of the business, whereas I am focusing on the light commercial and residential side.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business.
What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
We’re proud of the fact that we still believe that the customer always comes first. With that in mind, it doesn’t matter what the circumstances are, the job is not finished until our customer is completely satisfied with the job performed.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
I absolutely love working with customers and being able to provide solutions. I guess you could say I enjoy being that “go-to guy”. It really gives me a sense of accomplishment!

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
I’d have to say that my ideal customer is the one that has been taken advantage of from other companies. There’s nothing that gives me more pleasure than instilling confidence back in to them.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
It’s been said that I have a strong sense of urgency pertaining to meeting our customers needs. My background is in customer service and getting the job done right, stems back as far as I can remember. Both of my parents owned their own businesses and I got to see firsthand just how “3D” it can be. Drive, Devotion and Dedication.

Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
With the launching of Jet-Stream and the remnants of Harvey’s aftermath still lingering upon us, we are offering $75 driveway, sidewalk and curb cleaning. We’re also offering 20% off patios and home washing, if we have an appointment scheduled by April 23rd, 2019. Special discounts will apply for roof and gutter cleaning. Also, there will be discounts for window cleaning.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?

As a resident of Kingwood, all our customers are our neighbors and will be treated like a friend and neighbor.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
I see this happening by earning the reputation as being the company that friends and neighbors are proud to recommend to anyone, family included. That for me, is what makes it so rewarding.
