Liberty Tax's Tuition-Free* Tax School - Kingwood

Liberty Tax at 1309 Kingwood Drive will offer a 10-week tuition-free* Tax School for aspiring tax preparers, do-it-yourself filers, and those who want a better understanding of income taxes. Tax School will also teach students about the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), the biggest change to the tax code in more than 30 years. The course begins September 25, 2018.

TCJA still is new, and taxpayers are unsure about many of the changes brought about by the law. In a survey** of 1,000 taxpayers, Liberty Tax found that:
- Nearly 68 percent could not identify that the standard deduction had nearly doubled under TCJA;
- 84 percent did not know that the law had temporarily eliminated the personal exemption, a change that will affect taxpayers with qualified dependents.

Tax School will break down the new law for taxpayers as they learn how to apply the law to tax preparation. Tax School combines classroom discussion with hands-on learning. It offers practice in preparing income tax returns and covers a variety of topics, including: filing status, exemptions, tax credits, and more. Students who complete the course are considered for employment at Liberty Tax.

Tax School is great for anyone interested in learning about the new tax law, getting a better handle on their taxes, and possibly earning extra income. Veterans, retirees, students, so many people can benefit from the classes.
