As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Daniela Wells, Owner of Club Pilates Atascocita.

Tell us a bit about your business:  What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?

Club Pilates is a franchise-base Pilates studio, but is locally owned and operated, by my husband David and I (Dani). We have purchased the rights for Atascocita/Humble and Kingwood territories. Atascocita studio has been opened since August, 2017 and Kingwood will be coming soon, during Spring of this year. The boutique fitness studio provides group classes and private training designed to strengthen, lengthen, and tone a person's entire body. Club Pilates offers a variation on the traditional Pilates workout by incorporating music and energy into the classes. Each of the 12 studio reformers comes with its own station that includes TRX, ballet-barre, Bosu ball, EXO-chair, springboard and trigger point roller balls to keep you engaged, challenged, and inspired on your fitness journey.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?

We both always enjoyed a healthy life style, David is a big fan of juicing and eating well and I have danced ballet and done some private Pilates classes in the past, but I got diagnosed with a chronic illness, and after the progression, we both realized that in order for us to continue to have a balance lifestyle and be able to enjoy our 2 children, we needed to make some changes. So about two years ago, we took a leap of faith, David left his corporate job and we worked with a franchise consultant to pinpoint business we would like to own. Our ideal business would be a happy business that could bring positivity to people, plus we wanted a business that could welcome everyone regardless of people abilities or disabilities. When we found Club Pilates, we fell in love with the model, the support provided and the thought we would help our members to be healthier and more connected to their body and minds.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?

Club Pilates is the first studio to create a 500-hour Teacher Training Program designed to thoroughly and safely teach group Pilates reformer classes along with all the other equipment we offer. The instructors are comprehensive certified and they learn how to address the imbalances and injuries that someone may have and to modify the exercises to tailor it to specific need. So, even though you are in a group setting, you are receiving personal attention and guidance. Another difference between our studio and the more traditional Pilates studios is that we offer 4 levels and 9 class styles and all the classes provide a complete full body workout in an energetic and fun environment. We offer heart pumping cardio and interval training to classes that can help with core balance, reduce muscle soreness and increase performance.

We are also very proud of our customer service, David's background is in HR and Training, so all staff receives personalized training and continued guidance to provide an outstanding experience to our members. Plus David and I are always available and in the studio talking and getting to know everyone.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
No doubt our favorite part is getting to know our members and to engage in our community! Interestingly, David and I are on the shy side, but Club Pilates really helped us to get out of our comfort zone and get more involved. We also love that our members are benefiting from their experience with us.  We have people that tell us they could no longer keep up with their kids or grandkids or with their other sports, or something else and after just a few classes they are already seeing results. For me, because of my personal story, it is very rewarding to see people that are rehabilitating from an injury, have a chronic illness, or never workout in their lives to have access to the studio and have a welcoming experience.

Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
We offer a FREE class for people that would like to try us out without committing first and usually we have a different promotion going on every month. When you are a member you will also be able to participate in events, raffles, workshops and fun contest type of activities we promote at the studio.  All you need to do to get into the free class is to call 832-779-2622 or book online on our website: www.clubpilates.com/atascocita

When Club Pilates Kingwood announces its official opening dates, we will have a founder's membership special running.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?

The studio is light, bright and contemporary with state of the art equipment. We welcome everyone to visit us and put us to the test. One of many pros, is the class holds only 12 people, it makes for a great group experience but at the same time you feel as you have a personal trainer right there giving all the attention and helping you maximize your workouts. Plus in most fitness routines, such as cardio, running, lifting or cycling, we overuse our large muscle groups. In Pilates you will focus on the underutilized, opposing muscle groups to achieve greater stability, a stronger core and injury prevention. This is why is great for beginners and athletes alike.
