The Hyatt Regency Houston will be decorated in purple in honor of FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center’s Hearts of Gold Gala.
The annual gala will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 5:30-11 p.m. This year’s event is extremely important because money is needed to recover the organization’s financial loss as a result of Hurricane Harvey.
“We lost nearly $60,000 when we had to cancel the Purple Ribbon Luncheon earlier this month and other fundraisers benefitting FamilyTime were canceled due to the hurricane,” said Susan Meinholz, FamilyTime board president and gala chair. “Proceeds from this event will not only help us recoup this loss, but will also go toward FamilyTime’s mission, and its ‘Building a Future for Families’ Shelter Campaign.
The Hearts of Gold Gala will honor the 2017 Women of Achievement. The 13 honorees will be announced on Nov. 12. In addition, attendees will have an opportunity to support FamilyTime via bid boards, live auction, paddle call and general donations. Entertainment will be provided for dancing by the EZ Money Band.
“The gala is the largest fundraiser for FamilyTime. It’s a special night to hear about the wonderful things our honorees do for the community, enjoy dinner and dancing and bid on incredible auction items. Also, people will get a chance to learn more about our organization and provide financial support that will help victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking,” Meinholz said.
FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center is a non-profit organization that provides services and programs to encourage the mental health and wellness of the community as well as promote safety and support for the prevention of domestic and sexual violence. FamilyTime's vision is to advocate for women, men and children in crisis situations and offer them the vital services they need in order to regain control of their lives. Services include counseling, case management, assistance with legal matters, and shelter from an abusive situation.
