Showcase Kingwood to Help Restock the FOLK Bookstore - Kingwood

Showcase Kingwood is beyond excited to announce that they will be accepting donations of new and gently loved books on behalf of the Friends of the Library, Kingwood (FOLK) at their Fall Food Truck Festival on October 14th.

The Kingwood Library was hit particularly hard during Hurricane Harvey, leaving many of their books destroyed.  In addition to the damage at the library itself, the beloved FOLK used bookstore was also lost. As the mother to two small children, Allyson Mansfield of Showcase Kingwood was particularly saddened by the loss of the library and the FOLK store. "I don't even want to drive by the library with my son in the car" Mansfield said. "I don't know how to explain to him, he is only 2.5 years old, that the library is gone, that all those books, computers, everything, is just gone.  He'd be devastated" she said.  But like the rest of Kingwood, Showcase Kingwood and the Mansfield family refuses to sit back and sulk over the losses to the community.

We have reached out the good people of the Kingwood Library and FOLK and asked how we can help. Without a physical space FOLK is hamstrung. People want to donate books but there is no place to store them without the library building.  And that is where Showcase Kingwood is stepping in. At our upcoming Fall Food Truck Festival on October 14th in Town Center Park from 11 am to 6 pm, Showcase Kingwood will be accepting book donations on behalf of FOLK and storing them for the group until they are able to receive and store physical assets!  We are beyond excited to be helping restore our local library and cannot wait to see those door open again!  Join us in celebrating our community, enjoying food trucks, and giving the gift of reading back to our community!
