Local Woman Celebrates Her 104th Birthday Following a Successful Heart Procedure - Kingwood

Vera May smiles as she celebrates her 104th birthday a few weeks after receiving a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure by Dr. Khaled Khalaf, an interventional cardiologist affiliated with Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital and Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. The procedure is a minimally invasive cardiac surgery that allows physicians to replace the aortic heart valve without making any incisions. "I feel great after the surgery, and I'm so glad to be here and able to celebrate my birthday with my children, family and all my great and great-great grandchildren," said May.
