The students, staff and families from Primrose School of Eagle Springs raised more than $14,890 for charity, making them one of the top three contributors to Primrose Schools' annual fundraising efforts.
These funds, along with money raised from more than 300 Primrose schools across the country, will benefit the company's not-for-profit organization, the Primrose Children's Foundation. A donation of $7,449 will also go to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, selected for its pioneering research and treatments for children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
The Primrose Children's Foundation, supports initiatives that advocate for children in the greatest need. Funding for the Primrose Children's Foundation, which combines the fundraising efforts of Primrose schools to create a greater positive impact, is raised primarily through local Spring Fling events held annually at Primrose locations nationwide. The events provide Primrose families the opportunity to celebrate spring while giving back to their communities.
"Giving without expectation is an important part of the Primrose culture and something we make a purposeful effort to teach our children," said Paula Morgan, Franchise Owner of Primrose School of Eagle Springs. "We hold multiple charitable events throughout the year, providing our staff and families a chance to contribute to very important causes while helping teach our children the joy of giving back."
Primrose School of Eagle Springs held its Spring Fling event last April, which featured a variety of carnival-themed children's activities, along with a silent auction with items donated from local businesses. The school opened up its doors to the community so the families could have a time to get together with children in a safe environment to play games and relax. Mounted police and K-9 units from the Houston Police Department joined in for the festivities to help educate the young students on their role in the community. Classes teamed up to participate in a school-wide coin drive with all funds being donated to the Spring Fling fund. Prizes were given to the class that raised the most money for this initiative.
This year's record-breaking fundraising will benefit the franchise company's charitable partner, Save the Children. Primrose School of Eagle Springs will be holding their 2016 Spring Fling on Friday evening, April 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event is open to the public.
