Advantages Pharmacy has implemented a new register that allows patients to use their Health Savings Account Cards (HSA Card) hassle free. An HSA Card is similar to a debit card, but is instead loaded with pre-taxed money that was taken out of patient's paychecks for medical necessities (i.e. medical expenses, pharmacy goods, etc...).

Advantages Pharmacy now has a new register that allows the use of these cards without having to send any additional paperwork to the HSA company, reducing the legwork of the patients significantly. HSA cards require an itemized list of what is being bought to check and make sure each item is an FSA certified item. This is the paperwork that needs to be submitted to the HSA company for reimbursement from their HSA Card. However, with this new register, it does it automatically for the patient, allowing them to use their HSA Cards immediately instead of having to use their bank/credit card first, then filing for reimbursement.

Since Advantages Pharmacy falls under the 90/10 rule, they didn't have to have this type of register. "We did it as a courtesy to our patients to help reduce the amount of paperwork on their end," according to Owen Taylor, office manager. "Our patients are very important to us and we wanted to take this hassle off their list."

This new feature to the pharmacy will save patients grief, money, and time through the year; it makes using their HSA Card easier than ever before.
