Mike Nesbit, president of MW Cleaners presents Tania Cruz, public relations and events manager for Susan G. Komen Houston, with a check for $2,700 to help fund breast cancer research.

In just four days, MW Cleaners dry cleaned 5,400 pieces of pink clothing, raising $2,700 for Susan G. Komen Houston as part of its pink campaign to help fight breast cancer.

Mike Nesbit, president of MW Cleaners was thrilled that so many customers brought in their pink garments for cleaning during the four-day campaign held October 20-24. “It is incredible to think that MW Cleaners dry cleaned 1,350 pink garments per day to raise this money.” During that week, customers could visit MW Cleaners and bring in any garment with pink in it for cleaning for 50 percent off. MW Cleaners then matched the cost of the cleaning, with all proceeds going to Susan G. Komen Houston.

“It’s unfortunate that our store associates, our families and many of our customers have all been touched by cancer in some way, so MW Cleaners is committed to helping find a cure,” Nesbit added.

Throughout this year, MW Cleaners provides both monetary and in-kind donations to numerous charitable organizations throughout Montgomery and Harris Counties. Later this month, MW Cleaners will participate in The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program which provides Christmas assistance to disadvantaged families and individuals in the greater Houston area.

Through the Angel Tree Program, customers can adopt an Angel at designated MW Cleaners locations. When customers adopt an angel, they will receive an Angel ornament which lists a child’s name, age, gender, clothing sizes and gift requests. “It’s important that we all come together at Christmas and other times during the year to help those in need,” said Nesbit. Last year, 164 companies and organizations helped fulfill the gift requests of more than 11,000 Angels.

Nesbit has been involved in the community and the dry cleaning industry for more than 30 years. He is past president of both the Southwest Drycleaners and Laundry Association and the Greater Houston Cleaners and Laundries Association. Nesbit currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute, the world's leading professional garment organization.
