To celebrate Earth Day this year and mark an environmental milestone, MW Cleaners created a Facebook campaign asking customers to create a slogan to capture the drycleaner’s commitment to the environment.
Typically, drycleaning isn’t easy on your clothes or the environment. However, for the past 10 years, MW Cleaners has provided consumers with an alternate dry cleaning process. Mike Nesbit, president of MW Cleaners, invested $1 million in his consumer base to make MW Cleaners’ process the most environmentally sound in the industry and provide a drycleaning alternative that is actually easy on your clothes and good for the planet. “That gives consumers one more reason to do business with us,” said Nesbit.
Houston Heights-area resident Rolando Guerra created the winning slogan, ‘Be Clean, Stay Green,’ which, according to Nesbit, epitomizes MW Cleaners’ business philosophy. Guerra received $1,000 in dry cleaning services from MW Cleaners for his creative prose. Guerra is a fan of MW Cleaners and their commitment to the community . “Anything we can do to make the planet better. It all adds up,” said Guerra.
In 2012, The Men’s Wearhouse acquired Nesbit’s Cleaners, which started in 1978, and named Nesbit president of MW Cleaners. Under his direction, MW Cleaners has expanded to 37 Houston locations and seven new locations in the Austin and surrounding areas and employs 450 people. Nesbit has been involved in the dry cleaning industry for more than 30 years. Nesbit is past president of both the Southwest Drycleaners and Laundry Association and the Greater Houston Cleaner’s Association. Nesbit was most recently named to the Board of Directors of the Drycleaning and Laundry Institute, the world's leading professional garment organization.
