PGA Junior League Golf (PGA JLG) is designed to better socialize the game for boys and girls, ages 13 and under. PGA JLG features team vs. team competitions in structured leagues that provide a popular, less stressful scramble format as opposed to stroke-play competition. Kingwood is actively involved in this program and started another successful season this year. Each team-vs-team competition in PGA JLG consists of four 9-hole matches. Each 9-hole match is broken down into three 3-hole segments that are called “Flags”.

Under the overall instruction of Aurora Kirchner-McClain and Lori, there were a total of 4 teams on the prep team and 4 teams on the select team to make the PGA Junior Leage Golf team in Kingwood. The select teams played 5 games total against each other. The final game on June 30, 2014 was exciting with the lime green ligers (yes Ligers... The liger is a hybrid cross between a male lion (Panthera leo) and a tigress (Panthera tigris)) and the light blue thunder in a final playoff to see who would win 1st place. Under a scorching sun players, Mathew Payne, Bella Flores, and Ryan Abante played together and showed true teamwork. They consistently hit the fairways off the red tee box at the Lake Course in Kingwood and made putts to win all 3 flags so take the ligers on top to overall 1st place with a total of 33.5 flags in the league.
