Mission to Pine Ridge Reservation - Kingwood

Please pray for our mission trip to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota on May 7-14, 2011. Vision for Christ brings spiritual and physical vision by sharing the heart of Christ and providing eye care to people in need. Dr. Andrew James will be leading the team, Rev. Ben Isgitt will preach a revival, and Chuck Jones will head up a construction crew. We will be refurbishing used glasses for distribution during the mission. We would greatly appreciate the donation of any glasses. They will allow us an opportunity to share Jesus as we share them. You may donate at the following locations:

Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota has been called “America’s Third World Country” because:
• avg. family income - $3,700/year
• unemployment rate - 80-85%
• 63% live below poverty level
• approx. 12 people in each home
• adolescent suicide - 4x the avg.
• avg. life expectancy: M - 47; F - 52
• alcoholism affects 80% of families
• death rate from alcohol - 9x avg.
• diabetes and tuberculosis rates--300% higher than US average
• 50% over age 40 have diabetes

Jesus Christ is the only lasting hope for anyone. Please help us pray for their hearts to be prepared for the upcoming revival.
