Almost 30 members from the Humble community were hosted at Ekam Yoga Center and learned how to use profound breathing techniques, gentle yoga and meditation to alleviate stress from their daily lives. The workshop was filled to capacity and enjoyed by a diverse group of people.

"Atascocita came alive that night and we all learned a few simple techniques for quieting the mind." said Maggie Grueskin, Founder of Ekam Yoga Center . All the participants felt that they had more clarity after the workshop and were now equipped with techniques to relieve stress by simply using their breath.

The comprehensive Art of Living workshop will be offered at Ekam Yoga center from Sep 18th -21st (weekdays: 630pm-930pm and weekends: 9:30am-3:30pm). All 4 sessions are mandatory. This mind body wellness workshop, open to all above 18 years, consists of simple to learn, yet profound breathing techniques including the Sudarshan KriyaTM that reduces stress and increases energy and enthusiasm. Medical research has shown that regular practice of the Sudarshan KriyaTM lowers the stress hormone ‘cortisol’ and increases the well being hormone ‘prolactin’. In addition, participants learn practical wisdom to improve relationships at home and work through interactive processes and games.

This initiative is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the City of Houston and AOLF in October 2008 for promoting health and wellness among Houstonians. The Art of Living Foundation has already conducted a number of programs for children and adults in Greater Houston area over the last year toward this objective and will continue this noble project. Ekam Yoga center founded in 2009 has a mission to create a space for healing and transformation through community involvement, health and wellness classes and promoting green living for a better quality of life.

The Art of Living Foundation is an international, non-governmental organization, which engages in a wide array of educational and humanitarian programs that uplift individuals, make a difference in local communities, and foster global change. It is one of the largest volunteer based NGO’s affiliated with the United Nations and works in special consultative status with the UN's Economic and Social Council.
