We are receiving daily updates from state, regional and local officials and following their recommendations. Here is the latest important information for you and your students:

ABSENCE REPORTING: Health officials are monitoring student absences statewide due to concerns over H1N1 flu. They have asked public schools, beginning April 29, to share certain information with county health departments. If your child is absent, please notify the school and specify:

  • Is the absence due to an illness?
  • Does the child have a fever of 100° or more AND respiratory symptoms?

This information will help state officials respond appropriately to areas of Texas where there may be concerns. Humble ISD appreciates parents’ cooperation with this state-wide effort.

UIL NOTICE: UIL Schedules Altered Due to Swine Flu: On the recommendation of Dr. David Lakey, Commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, and in consultation with Texas Education Agency  Commissioner Robert Scott, the University Interscholastic League is altering its schedule of events due to the outbreak of the swine flu in Texas.

Effective immediately, all UIL interscholastic competition is suspended until May 11. This recommendation affects the scheduled Region Track Championships that were set for May 1 & 2. This meet has been cancelled. See the UIL web site for details.
